| Personality: | Keran is a very strong willed person, who tends to be protective of those she cares about, including her fellow crew members. She takes the responsibilities of 2nd in command very seriously and will place the lives of her staff above all other matters. She tends to be filled with self doubt, but it is rare for anyone else to see that in her. She hides it well behind a calm assurance she rarely feels. Only her closest friends would ever be able to tell when she is having difficulties. | ||
| She tends to be rather casual in her attitudes, and even in the Executive Officer position retains the approachability that made her an effective counsellor. | |||
| In times of stress and uncertainty she often tugs on her right ear, a habit left over from childhood when she still wore her family earring and believed that action brought her closer to the Prophets. | |||
| Background: | Keran's Grandmother had attempted to instill a sense of hatred toward Cardassians into her grand-daughter's young mind. She didn't fully succeed, but remembering her lessons on the Occupation, and combined with her own experiences fighting the RA, it would take quite some time for a Cardassian to gain Keran's trust. | ||
| The spirituality that Keran's mother taught her warred against the lessons given by her Grandmother. Through her teen years Keran found it difficult to reconcile both viewpoints, and was constantly in search of some form of inner peace. That search lead her to the field of psychology, and eventually to Starfleet where she hoped to be of some help during the war. | |||
| She excelled in her studies at the Academy and although she hated the combat side of training, she proved herself to be quite capable in all areas. She is one to search for a diplomatic solution to any problem, before resorting to combat, but when pushed she is a formidable opponent. | |||
| Additional Information: | The circumstances surrounding her parents' deaths always bothered Keran. Although it looked like an RA attack on her father, ostensibly to stop the resistance cell he was building, she was suspicious of it from the beginning. Now, with the help of a Bajoran friend, she is searching for the answers to what really happened. | ||
